Small preview imageDDR3 is the next memory standard. Right now it’s just the high-end users who use it, mainly because of the price, but with coming platforms from both AMD and Intel using solely DDR3, prices are expected to come down quite a lot before the end of the year. While the price may still be higher than what most are willing to pay, especially now that DDR2 can be had for scraps, you can’t argue with the performance. Already from day one, DDR3 showed that it’s faster than DDR2, and since then the market grown quite a lot to also include more affordable modules.

Today we have modules running at 1866MHz and over at BenchZone they’ve posted a roundup with modules of all price ranges.
