8.5 GB DVDR on 7.5 minutes

DVD-burners have become cheap lately. Today you can get a really good 4x-burner for below 1000 SEK (exchange rates).

The development goes quickly forward and nowadays 8x-burners are the new standard and the next step will be 12x. It seems that atleast two major manufacturers will skip 12x and head for 16x right away though.

The next generation will of course also be able to write dual layer-discs. Short version: the writable DVD’s of the future will be able to store 8.5 GB of data and it will take about seven minutes to burn a complete disc.
