Xbox 360 will soon be blessed with the first external HD DVD player on the market. Even if it will be a relatively cheap upgrade for those owning an Xbox 360 console it is hardly an optimal solution for those who aren’t interested in Xbox 360. It’s therefore interesting to see that two manufacturers have now displayed their own external HD DVD players for PCs. Toshiba has displayed a slim unit which most likely is a version of its SD-L902A player we’ve reported about earlier on. The unit uses the USB2.0 interface and unfortunately there is no information available regarding the price of the player nor the launch date.

HP is the other manufacturer which has now presented an external HD DVD player and just as Toshiba’s model it uses the USB2.0 interface. Although, here it seems to be a full size unit fitted into an external casing. Also here there is no information about the price, but HP HD100 will hopefully arrive before the end of the year.
