Rumors have been going around ever since AMD acquired ATI that Intel would buy NVIDIA, but now a wave of hot tips from analysts has awoken the stock market. Analysts from among others vFinance Investements has said that it is being speculated that Intel will make a press release about the acquisition any moment now. These rumors made NVIDIA’s stock rise with almost 8 procent yesterday. If there is any truth behind this information, few know for sure, but there are still a lot things that speak against an acquisition. Not the least now that Intel self has started to integrate graphics circuits but also made investments to increase its presence on the graphics circuit market.
Second, it would be a very expensive deal as NVIDIA has twice the market value of ATI. NVIDIA is suppose to be worth about $10 million, while ATI’s value was about $4.2 billion when AMD acquired it. It’s going to be very interesting to see what happends the coming days, especially if Intel has decided to make such a large investment. Intel is worth more than ten times as much, so money isn’t a problem.
