ASUS will be the sole user of C-Media’s sound circuits

ASUS has signed an agreement with sound circuit manufacturer C-Media Electronics about using its circuits with its motherboards from 2007 and forward. C-Medias Dolby/Digital Theater System (DTS) sound circuits will be integrated onto ASUS’ motherboards and with new functions where not only computer sound but also home cinema is the goal as Media Center PCs have started to become quite common. An important detail in all of this is that ASUS is the only one which will use C-Media’s ICs, no other motherboard manufacturer will get to license C-Media’s products. Since ASUS is the biggest motherboard manufacturer on the retail market this may not be that much of a loss to C-Media. We’ve earlier reported about how ASUS had invested in C-Media’s online music platform Kuro, hopefully this means a broad cooperation.
