Even if overclocked graphics cards and processors running at extreme frequencies are things most of us hold very dear there are other components which also makes our mouths water. Flash-based harddrives is one of them. This is an area where Samsung is leading the development of so called SSD products. Samsung’s Solid State Disc family is already being used by Samsung’s own products, but also other manufacturers have followed and used these power efficient harddrives with extremely fast access times. The storage capacity is at maximal 32GB but transfer speeds and not the least access times are considerably better than with other harddrives of the same size (down to 1.8″).
Now Samsung has received another acknowledgement fot its SSD family as it has managed to get WHQL certification from Microsoft (Windows Hardware Quality Libs). This hopefully means that we will see a bigger spread and lower prices on the SSD market within the near future.
