Sony’s batteries for laptops have caused numerous headlines all over the IT world and each time we hear about new recalls. Those who’ve missed the whole debacle, Sony has simply made batteries for laptops with some defects. These batteries have then caught on fire and in some cases even caused laptops to explode. Sony has therefore sent out guidelines to manufacturers for recalling the batteries that might be affected by the manufacturing error. We knew from the start that millions of laptops were affected and now it seems the heap is just growing.
The last company to be affected is system builder Gatway, which now is calling 340,000 batteries back. The sum for Sony’s recall is right now over 8 million batteries and below you will find a list of the affected companies.

In other words, it might be a good idea to check with your supplier/retailer if you happen to have a computer with one of Sony’s malfunctioning batteries.
