AMD were fast in hiding and removing most of the ATI logos and trademarks found at the ATI site when the deal between the companies was done. The indicated that ATI was going to perish into oblivion and AMD just would get several new products on the market using their trademark instead. Recent information tells us that it might not be as bad as we thought. AMD has announced that they’re not going to remove the ATI trademark in the first place. Instead, the ATI trademark will still be used on discrete video cards and controller circuits. AMD’s chief of engineering, Phil Hester, also said that this doesn’t mean that AMD/ATI’s going to stop producing controller circuits for Intel. How Intel will react to this, we do not know, chances are that they won’t allow it. But for us consumers, hope isn’t gone when it comes to finding a ATI/Intel solution in the future, not yet anyhow.
