Kingston launches 2GB SO-DIMM modules

Kingston seems to be one of the companies that has acknowledged the growing need for the need of more RAM capacity. It has now launched new SO-DIMM memory modules for the mobile market. The modules are specified to 533MHz and 667MHz and use DDR2 technology. This is not the main attraction with these modules though, but rather the capacity is. Each module namely holds 2GB RAM which is so far quite rare on today’s memory market. Now that 2GB modules are starting to appear for the mobile market we’re eager to see which manufacturer that will be the first to target the desktop market in the same way. As expected the prices are quite high; 589 USD for a 533MHz 2GB module from Kingston, while a 800MHz 1GB module in the same series costs 208 USD.
