Playstation 3 is based on the Cell processor which in turn is based on the PowerPC architecture. An architecture which basically all major linux distributions supports, and many are actually completely dedicated for. One of these major distributions is Fedora from RedHat, which recently was released as Core 6, and now one of the people who managed to come across a Playstation 3 decided to install Fedora on his new console. He has videotaped the booting of the new operating system, with commentaries, and published a video of it at YouTube. It seems to work quite well actually and the though of Playstation 3 replacing the PC doesn’t feel as far off as before.
