We recently told you of reports that said that Microsoft’s portable media player Zune had been having some trouble. It seems these reports were a bit misleading as another marketing survey company has now announced that Zune has actually been the second best selling player on the market during its first four days. Microsoft managed to grab 9 percent of the digital player market during its first days which actually knocked down SanDisk to third place, but was still way, way behind Apple. Another survey made by Current Analysis shows figures that Zune “only” managed to reach 7 percent, which is third place behind SanDisk.

Both surveys have focused on the sales in American home electronics stores, and none of the Internet-based sales. The Internet sales seems to have gone a lot slower though and according to Amazon.com Zune is merely the 18th most popular player in the store.

“Kathleen Maher, a senior analyst at Jon Peddie Research, notes that even if the Zune is off to a slow start in the MP3 player market, Microsoft has had a lot of success launching a new product, tweaking it and ultimately satisfying consumers.”
