Killer NIC is the first real enthusiast network card and Bigfoot Networks, the company behind the card, hasn’t had an easy launch. The struggle isn’t won yet and we’re pretty sure that there is quite few people who are willing to spend a few hundreds on a network card, but the testing of the card continues and now HardOCP has published an interesting review about Killer NIC. It has simply skipped everything that has to do with performance diagrams and instead focused completely on how Killer NIC will change your gaming experience, if at all. They’ve used blind tests with several known games and the results are varying quite a lot.
Even if Killer NIC had little effect in some games, there was a big difference with others. One of the games where the difference was easy to notice was World of Warcraft and its hard to find a better game for Killer NIC to improve. The entire article can be found at HardOCP, which have a hard time deciding how to summarize their experiences with Killer NIC. But maybe there is a future for Bigfoot Networks’ enthusiast network card after all.
