Seagate took control of the harddrive market, seen to the capacity, when it launched its 750GB 3.5″ harddrive last year. So far no other manufacturer have caught up with Seagate and its use of perpendicular recording has really paid off. DailyTech has now received some information about Seagate’s plans to break the magic 1TB with its 3.5″ harddrives. Seagate claims that it will launch its first 1TB harddrive within six months time and it will really push the perpendicular recording technology to the limit.
Seagate is namely trying to achieve this with fewer platters than the competition, which requires a higher storage density. Anyway, we’re looking forward to the first 1TB harddrives, a taste of 100TB+ harddrives Seagate has already promised us this decade.
