eVGA has now become the third graphics card manufacturer to jump at NVIDIA looser hold of its G80 graphics circuit. We’ve already reported about how XFX and Sparkle have launched GeForce 8800 series where the cards comes with overclocked frequencies from factory and eVGA hasn’t held back now that it enters the game. It has namely launched two overclocked GeForce 8800 series with a total of four different graphics card models. The two new graphics card series are named as follows;
– eVGA GeForce 8800 ACS3 KO
– eVGA GeForce 8800 Superclocked
The thing that separates them is the degree of overclocking but also the kind of cooling used. The ACS3 KO series uses eVGA’s patented ACS3 cooling which covers the entire card and simply offers a more efficient cooling. The Superclocked series uses NVIDIA’s reference cooling and to finally separate the two eVGA has thus chosen to overclock the cards at various degrees.
- GeForce 8800 GTX original: 575MHz/1800MHz
- eVGA GeForce 8800 GTX KO ACS3: 626MHz/2000MHz
- eVGA GeForce 8800 GTX Superclocked: 621MHz/2000MHz
- GeForce 8800 GTS original: 500MHz/1600MHz
- eVGA GeForce 8800 GTS KO ACS3: 580MHz/1700MHz
- eVGA GeForce 8800 Superclocked: 575MHz/1800MHz
The clock frequencies are close to identical and at regular use there won’t be much of a difference between eVGA’s two new model series. But they both have considerably higher frequencies than NVIDIA’s specified reference and should though offer a significant improvement over standard models. So far there is no information price available for eVGA’s new graphics card series, but as usual one starts to wonder what you have to pay for the extra MHz and in some cases the new cooler.
