The Legend of Zelda is one of the world’s most famous video game series, and after the success of the Super Mario movie, Zelda is also getting her own feature film. Now Nintendo has shared the first images from the filming.
The Super Mario movie was met with rave reviews and brought in a lot of money for Nintendo. So it’s no surprise that the company was quick to greenlight a feature film based on their iconic The Legend of Zelda series. Now we’ve seen the very first images from the filming of the upcoming film, which is expected to premiere on March 7, 2027.
Filming for the film has recently begun and is taking place in Wellington, New Zealand. The images shared show actor Evan Ainsworth, who plays Link, and Bo Bragason, who plays Zelda, in full costume.
Details about the film remain very scarce. For example, we don’t know if Nintendo has chosen to use the plot from one of the many games in the series or if they have chosen to develop a completely original story just for the film. However, there is about a year and a half left until the premiere and we will probably get more information confirmed before then.
