Dell has grabbed a nice share of the LCD monitor market with its broad assortment of monitors. Dell hasn’t ventured for any unique products, but is instead among the first to launch new panel sizes and often with competitive prices. During CES Dell has displayed a new LCD monitor prototype which really makes a strong and unique impression. Dell has namely mounted a 22″ widescreen monitors where the panel is not the big news, but the monitor’s aesthetic design. Dell has more or less attached an extremely thin LCD panel directly on a sheet of glass together with a web camera and four speaker elements, which in turn seem to hover in mid air beside and above the panel.
As far as we known it is just a prototype, but would Dell choose to launch this unusually tasteful LCD monitor we can guarantee them a more than a few customers standing ready in line. We certainly hope Dell dares to bring this concept to the market and that more monitor manufacturers follow with more unique monitor designs.
