Intel Core 2 Duo 4300 will be shipped out on January 21 and will then be the new entry model of Intel’s dual-core series. The new processor is based on Allendale, and not a Conroe with half the L2 cache like 6300/6400. It also has a slower bus, 800MHz, and a somewhat lower frequency than 6300, 1.8GHz. The new model is expected to be an affordable alternative since it comes with a high multiple and low bus which leaves a lot of room for overclocking and above all easy such. The fact is that Xbitlabs managed to push it up to a 380MHz FSB and a total frequency at 3420MHz without any major efforts.
At stock speed 4300 is a tiny bit slower than 6300, as expected, while clocked to 3420MHz it whips even an X6800, which we can’t really say comes as a surprise either. With a price right below 6300 we can’t expect anything but another successful launch.
