Intel is according to sources to Reuters on the verge of making a very large investment in China, thus build a new plant. Several billion dollars is apparently at stake here and even if neither place nor the exact amount is stated we should be able to expect a statement from Intel soon. The new plant will manufacture 65nm dual-core processors according to the sources, but is most likely an important part of Intel’s plans to make its China section more self-reliant further up ahead. Intel has already invested large amounts in China and we can’t say that this sounds all that far-fetched.
