Last year consumers groups in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland have shown their dislike with how Apple and iTunes shuts in their users. The consumer groups wants Apple to open up iTunes to other players and now German and French consumer groups have joined the cause. This should a significant amount of force to the demands, but it still feels incredibly optimistic. Apple hasn’t said or done anything to meet these demands, despite ultimatums and a law in France, Apple has only pointed out that iPod is doing well in Europe.
“Apple is aware of the concerns we’ve heard from several agencies in Europe and we’re looking forward to resolving these issues as quickly as possible,”/…/”Apple hopes that European governments will encourage a competitive environment that lets innovation thrive, protects intellectual property and allows consumers to decide which products are successful.”
If anything is suppose to happen, EU will have to step up and force Apple to do it. Apple will not back down from one of its most fundamental business ideas without commands from the highest authority.
