The Linux Foundation has just been formed through a merge between Open Source Development Labs (OSDL) and Free Standards Group (FSG). They’ve both been working toward the same goal for a long period of time now and have thus now decided to merge. The basic idea is to support and premiere Linux against the closed operating systems (read Windows). The Linux Foundation will be backed up by Fujitsu, Hitachi, HP, IBM, Intel, NEC, Novell and Oracle, to mention a few. It’s hard to deny that Linux has been growing since it was first introduced and with distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora, SUSE and Mandriva, to mention a few, Linux has become very easy to use.
