ATI Radeon X1950GT appeared in the news at the start of the month and now some more detailed information has appeared, including a slightly more specific launch date. X1950GT is based on the RV570LE core, 80nm, and will run at 500MHz. The memory will run at 1.2GHz and by the looks of it we should be able to expect cards with these specifications at the start of February. The card will be put right between X1650XT and X1950Pro at $169. The basic idea is of course to ease the pain of waiting for R600, but since there are very few manufacturers that are showing any interest in the circuit we can’t help sensing the same response from the customers, especially as DirectX10 cards can be sighted on the horizon.
