Pioneer BDC-202 is one of the first Blu-ray readers to appear and the manufacturer has now confirmed that the player will be available during the second quarter of 2007. It has launched BDC-202 as a Disc Combo Drive, but that doesn’t mean it sports HD DVD as well. Except from Blu-ray it can also also play DVD and CD. The unit can also burn DVDs, but neither Blu-ray nor CDs. Pioneer BDC-202 is mainly for OEMs and system builders so we will just have to wait and see retail Blu-ray readers. There’s no information regarding the price of the player, but we’re looking forward to seeing more of these.
