AMD hasn’t launched a quad-core processor yet, but it has been talking about its answer to Intel’s Clovertown/Kentsfield and the fact that Barcelona is a genuine quad-core architecture for a long time now. By that AMD means that it has integrated four processor cores into the same circuit while Intel actually uses two dual-core circuits tied together. AMD has now taken the opportunity to reveal its new Barcelona processor during the Windows Vista launch in Japan and at VR-Zone they’ve published a pretty detailed picture of the processor from the event. But also an older picture of Barcelona next to Clovertown which clearly shows that Intel uses two separate circuits with its quad-core architecture.
