We’ve now received indications that AMD/ATI’s coming R600 and at VR-Zone they’ve published both technical details and launch information. R600 will, as expected, be made with a 80nm process and house 64 unified shaders running at 814MHz. The performance will be from 2.5 up to 8 times that of today’s R580 architecture depending use. The launch of R600 has been set to March and CeBIT, but unfortunately it is once again a “paper-launch” as the graphics cards are not expected to arrive a few weeks later, I.e. April. When the cards arrive they are expected to be called Radeon X2900 and right now we can only that things don’t get worse and the (actual) launch is even more delayed.
