Core 2 Duo E6850 will be one of Intel’s first processors with the new 1333MHz processor bus and we’re still waiting for the final launch of the E6x50 series. The processors are already available to some though and by the looks of it there is plenty of overclocking potential. VictorWang has namely posted some Core 2 Duo E6850 overclocking tests at XtremeSystems’ forum. Running at 3.0GHz and using a 1333MHz processor bus the processor is already running at a high frequency, but using just regular air cooling VictorWang managed to push his two engineering samples to over 3.8GHz stable.

Not super, but still impressive considering these are early samples and very stable. The processors doesn’t seem to like high voltages and at these overclockings he didn’t even go above 1.42V. There seem to be overclocking potential with Intel’s new processor models, but the question is which motherboards that will be able to handle FSBs at 600MHz. These engineering samples had unlocked multipliers, but this will not be the case with retail models.

VictorWang has also updated his website with overclockings where he has liquid nitrogen, despite that the processor can’t take more than 1.64V he managed to push the frequency to impressive 5136MHz. Not bad for a processor that’s not suppose to be ready for another six months.
