Funai is company known for its cost-efficient products. Funai has now decided to give in to the current trend and venture on to the Blu-ray market and our first thoughts are of course of a more affordable player. This player will not be sold under the Funai brand though, but will be offered to other companies and through OEMs. So far there is not even preliminary specifications available but the player has been set to cost about $500 and the player will arrive before the end of the year. Hopefully more companies will launch more players within a more affordable price-range since there are relatively few which can actually afford and do today’s HD DVD and Blu-ray players justice.
