Passive cooling is getting more and more popular as they’re completely silent and nowadays are just as efficient as many active coolers. Graphics card manufacturer Inno3D has realized this and launched its new creation; the i-Chill series. These models will use a completely passive cooling and not surprisingly it is Arctic Cooling that supplies the coolers. Inno3D uses its Accelero S1M and S2M coolers which are intended for high-end and mid-range graphics cards. Except for its massive aluminum heatsinks the cooler uses several heatpipes to keep the card cool.

“The AC Accelero S2M & S1M heatpipe design is highly efficient for heat transfer and is filled with liquid material that vaporizes the heat from one side of the pipes to the other. The vaporized liquid is then cooled and liquidated again.”

Inno3D has launched several models equipped with this passive cooler and these range from the slower GeForce 7300GT up to GeForce 7950GT. The price is yet to be announced, but those who want a quiet system should certainly take a look at these new alternatives.
