Apple is usually fast to adapt new and hot technologies. One of the hottest at the moment is without a doubt Solid State Drives, flash-based harddrives, and Apple is said to have shown interest in the new technology. According to analyst Shaw Wu, who predicted Apple’s launch of iPhone, Apple is planning to launch small notebooks with flash-based memory circuits for storage instead of mechanical harddrives. The first models using the new storage technology will appear during the second half of 2007 and Apple is already prepared, it all comes down to the flash memory manufacturers when the new notebooks will arrive.
“Apple, known as a technology innovator, would be among the first PC makers to use flash memory for storing data in computers, a step that some chip memory makers, including Micron Technology Inc., have said is inevitable as prices for flash decline and storage capacity increases.”
