Xcerion is not a new company, but it has chosen to work in the dark since 2001. The goals of the company have thus been eluding us, but now that is has presented its Xcerion Internet OS, an online operating system based on XML, it’s hard not to be impressed by its visions. The idea isn’t to compete with Microsoft Windows, OSX or even Linux, but more of being a cheaper, simpler and more convenient alternative for both consumers and small businesses, simply people wanting to keep the costs at a minimum. Moreover, thanks to the general structure and XML base the development costs of new applications will be significantly reduced, making old and unfeasible ideas possible.

Like stated before, this is possible thanks to the XML base that makes it possible to create applications by using only visual aids without any need for any kind of coding skills. At the same time, it’s an Internet-based operating system, which makes it possible to access the system wherever you may be. You’ve probably realized that this is an operating system which runs on top of today’s operating systems; “Every computer is my computer,” the company slogan.

This has some obvious advantages like low maintenance costs, high security and reliability, no real hardware requirements, no worries for lost data, upgrades are handled automatically, etc. The responsibility is mainly Xcerion’s and not the user’s.

As we mentioned briefly in the beginning Xcerion Internet OS is being designed as low-cost alternative and a large portion of the hundreds of applications Xcerion will be offering will be completely free of charge. It has no intention of being a complete alternative in the same way as Linux tries to replace Windows, but more being a simpler and easily accessible alternative. Very few people are actually using all of the functions offered by the applications available today and most people will do just fine with easier and smaller solutions.

You can apply for a beta account at xcerion.com today and the final product is expected to arrive during the third quarter.
