EU will not go after Apple and FairPlay

No one can have missed how European consumer organizations in Scandinavia, Germany, France, and more, have been criticizing and even made the DRM system Apple uses with iTunes illegal (Norway). EU commissioner Meglena Kuneva, chief of consumer protection, made a pretty strong statement where she was very critical of how Apple’s shut-in its customers. She thought, just like many of the consumer organizations, that it’s unreasonable that music that has been purchased of iTunes only works with iPods. The EC has now taken a closer look at the case and decided not to intervene and thinks that Apple’s usage of DRM technology is not against the rules.
