Blu-ray has been having a couple of good months since Sony launched its PlayStation 3 video game console and as previous reports have revealed it’s Blu-ray which is selling the most movies of the two HD formats. The war between Blu-ray and HD DVD is hardly over but that hasn’t stopped the Blu-ray disc association from revealing its next goal, namely dethroning the DVD format from the sales charts in three years. Even if the price difference is way too big for the format to compete with DVD today, the Blu-ray organization hopes to surpass the DVD format relatively soon. It sounds like a sound plan, but since it hasn’t even won the blue laser war yet, a more careful approach wouldn’t hurt.
