Motorola ML910 and MW810 are two mobile tools which certainly stands out from the crowd through their extreme purposes. Panasonic’s ToughBook series has been tested and proven to sustain some serious beatings, but Motorola has no intentions of letting Panasonic roam alone. Motorola ML910 has a high resolution 13.3″ widescreen display and a built-in fingerprint reader. The other specifications consist of an Intel Core Duo 1.66Ghz, AMD/ATI’s X1400 graphics circuit with 128MB dedicated memory. The laptop brings support for a variety of wireless communications; WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS and WAN radios. Even if this is impressive in its own way, it’s not what makes this one news-worthy;

The laptop lives up to “MIL-STD-810F United States Department of Defense standard” and has a built-in heating element for the harddrive to protect it when the laptop is used at very low temperatures. The computer also has a self-diagnostic tool which keeps track of all components and makes sure everything works the way they should. In other words, a laptop gone extreme. We’ve been able to acquire some pictures of this which shows just how extreme it is.

Motorola MW810 on the other hand is more of a complete workstation. It’s equipped with Intel’s Core 2 Duo processor and has a display that will be readable in strong and direct sunlight. The idea is to mount this one in a vehicle. There are no exact specifications for this one as it is a three-part build (monitor, processing system, keyboard) were each part can be individually specified.

“The MW810 Mobile Workstation supports multiple internal radios for seamless multi-network roaming, providing reliable connectivity-even at highway speeds. The MW810 Mobile Workstation internal GPS and Dead Reckoning GPS module options ensure reliable and accurate vehicle location verification.”

Even if the market is more like the military, one can’t help falling in love with the ML910 for its extreme design.
