Hitachi GST has now announced that it will restructure and go for a bigger market share and increased sales. Recently, its new 1TB harddrive was reviewed and there was nothing but positive to say about it. So far so good, but Hitachi has now announced a program where it will specialize certain areas (even more) for specific tasks and at the same time reduce the workforce, among others by closing its plant in Guadalajara, Mexico. Two plants around the globe will be used for manufacturing (Laguna, Philippines and Prachinburi, Thailand) and it will focus on development in Odawara, Japan. Hitachi and the harddrive market have been having a hard time lately and to get things moving again it will launch new products and reduce costs.
