Intel is planning to strengthen its position on the 1-way server market by launching a couple of new processor models and lower the prices of current products. During the third quarter, Intel is expected to launch a new Xeon 3200 processor called Xeon 3230, with four cores working at 2.66GHz. At the same time it will also launch three new dual-core processors of the Xeon 3000 series running at 3.0GHz, 2.66GHz and 2.33GHz respectively. In April Intel is expected to start its first series of price cuts of the 1-way server processors, but during the third quarter it will lower prices even further and with some models even as much as 50%. These price cuts will mainly affect the current Xeon 3200 processors.
