Gaim is together with Miranda two of the most popular clients for sending instant messages. The big advantage with using these is that you can use more than one protocol at a time, which means that you can gather all of your MSN/ICQ/AOL/Yahoo!/etc contacts in the same application. Gaim has now decided to change its name to Pidgin after being harassed by AOL, simply since the name Gaim is too much alike AIM (AOL Instant Messenger). This has been going on for some time and the Gaim people chose to keep it quiet until they were able to reach a resolution, but now that the time has come it has released this information, the name change and the fact that the anticipated version 2.0 will arrive within a week.
