Fujitsu has now announced that it has put its plans for new 1.8″ harddrives on hold. The reason for this is that manufacturers of mobile devices are moving more and more toward flash-based storage instead. Fujitsu was planning a new series of 1.8″ harddrives for ultraportable computers and digital media players, but now it seems that the manufacturers are mainly interested in Solid State Drives, which made Fujitsu to put the new 1.8″ harddrive on hold. It wants to observe and see where the market is going, if the harddrives have any kind of future the manufacturing plans will be defrosted. We have to consider this as a pretty clear evidence for that the SSD technology has had an impact on the storage market.
