Intel McCaslin – The foundation of MID and future UMPCs

McCaslin is the codename for the hardware platform that Intel developed its ultra-mobile devices and Intel has now revealed both one and two details about the platform it turns out that McCaslin will b used with both Intel’s Mobile Internet Device units and the next generation UMPCs. McCaslin will be named Intel Ultra Mobile Platform 2007 and the foundation is a modified version of the i945 chipset with Intel’s integrated graphics circuit GMA950. The processor is a 90nm Pentium and is code-named Stealey. It has a single core and work at 600MHz or 800MHz with a TDP at 3W.



The Pentium-based processor uses a 400MHz processor bus and 512KB L2 cache and the two models will be called Intel A100 600MHz and Intel A110 800MHz.
