Sharp has announced a new LCD display for mobile devices that will offere a very high contrast ratio; 2000:1. Sharp has borrowed technology from its LCD TV series AQUOS during the development of its new mobile LCD display and on top of the excellent contrast ratio the display offers a response time at 8ms, 240×320 pixel resolution and a 176 graders viewing angle. The 2.2″ display will be used with everything from mobile phones to digital cameras where both video and image functions have been adapted to become more advanced and demanding. The first samples of Sharp’s new LCD display will be shipped this fall and it is mainly focusing on the One-Seg-compatible mobile phones that support Digital TV broadcasting.
