Corsair Flash Survivor is the latest USB memory from memory manufacturer Corsair but the new Flash Survivor series is quite different from most controversial USB memories. As the name implies this is a USB memory that will be able to survive a lot and Corsair has launched both water-resistant and durable USB memories in the past, but this is in a whole new league. Corsair Flash Survivor will be a limited edition and sport two different storage capacities, 4GB and 8GB. The later model has the ‘GT’ suffix to separate it from the smaller model. Corsair has designed a durable capsule from aluminum which seals the memory inside.
According to Corsair this is not just a lot of PR chants, but Flash Survivor’s extreme durability has been verified through extensive tests and ISO standards.
“When we say Flash Survivor is Ultra Rugged, we’re not kidding! Flash Survivor has been through the following ‘torture tests’ to verify it’s status as “ultra rugged”:”
- 200 Meter Pressure Test ISO 6425, Method 7.3.7 Passed
- Resistance to Salt Water ISO 6425, Method 7.3.3 Passed
- Reliability Under Water ISO 6425, Method 7.3.4 Passed
- Thermal Shock* Passed
- Washing Machine One complete cycle Passed
- Dryer One complete cycle Passed
- Forklift 8,000 lb forklift Passed
There’s no information about the price of Corsair’s new durable USB memory, but the biggest problem is finding a sample for the extremely clumsy/adventurous users that needs this kind of safety.
