New Internet speed world record – 9.08Gbps

0

Scientists at the Internet2 consortium in Tokyo, Japan, have announced that it has set a new Internet speed world record. Using modified protocols they managed to send data over the Internet at a rate of 9Gbps, which is a bg improvement of the previous record set back in December 2006 with 7.67Gbps. During the record haul they sent data to a location 32,000 kilometers away at a constant rate of 9.08Gbps, pretty decent we have to say. It’s really exciting to see how they keep pushing the limits of the Internet and now we just have to wait for our regular connections to be upgraded, maybe not hope for Gbps speeds but perhaps get rid of all those async ADSL connections.
