D-Link DWA-140 – draft-n USB adapter

D-Link ha snow announced that it has expanded its assortment of wireless devices based on the new IEEE 802.11n (draft)standard. The new wireless standard is up to five times faster than today’s 802.11g standard. This hasn’t stopped the network equipment manufacturers though as many have already launched products with support for the new protocol. D-Link DWA-140 Wireless N USB Mini adapter is based on the latest draft of the 802.11n protocol and will, if no major changes are made, be completely compatible when the standard is finalized.



DWA-140 is a USB stick and is connected to a USB port, which makes it an option for both desktops and laptops.


DWA-140 has been designed for the users that are looking for a higher wireless bandwidth (up to 300Mbps) in a small format. The USB miniadapter sports WEP, WPA and WPA2, and contains a WiFi tool for finding wireless networks and displaying their individual signal strength.


D-Link has about a dozen of of 802.11n products, ranging from routers to PCI network cards. The price of D-Link DWA-140 will be $69 when it arrives at the end of the month.
