We’ve been hearing reports that IBM would reduce its workforce by up to 40%. According to Robert Cringely at PBS.org as many as 150,000 people could lose their jobs, a number which sounded way too high to us and it seems that we were right. Several analysts tracking IBM have called the rumors pure nonsense and points to the fact that IBM is doing really well as a company and has no reason to make such large changes to its workforce. There is still the possibility that IBM will reduce its workforce by thousands, and has actually already started doing so, but that the final number would be in the vicinity of 150,000 is completely false, even if IBM has chosen not to comment on the rumors.
