Apple has now updated its line of MacBook Pros. The biggest update is that the series is now based on the new Intel Santa Rosa platform, along with faster processors, 802.11n, etc. Apple has also taken the time to upgrade the graphics circuit inside MacBook Pro, to NVIDIA’s latest GeForce 8 family. The computers are now using NVIDIA GeForce Go 8600M GT to feed the displays of the new MacBook Pro with video information. You can have the laptop with a 15″ display or a 17″ display, where the 15″ model uses LED backlighting, while the 17″ will instead sport a 1920×1200 resolution.

“Apple’s notebooks have always led the industry in innovation with features like built-in 802.11 and the MagSafe Power Adapter, and now the industry’s first 15-inch LED-backlit display is another step toward completely eliminating mercury from our displays.”

The price range of Apple’s MacBook Pro systems is quite broad depending on your configuration, but the base model with a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB RAM and 15″ (1400×900) LED backlit display costs $1,999. But those who want (and can afford it) can upgrade the laptops for many hundreds of dollars. More information about the new MacBook Pro models can be found at Apple’s website.
