AMD is close to launching its new mid-range and low-end graphics circuits of the Radeon HD 2000 series. It has namely announced that it has starting shipping its Radeon HD 2400 and Radeon HD 2600 GPUs in larger volumes to AIB partners (Add-in board). This means that AMD’s graphics card partners can now start producing its own cards before the retail launch in just a few weeks. Except from the DirectX 10 support, the Radeon HD 2400/2600 series will also have the Unified Video Decoder (UVD), which reduces the processor usage during video playback, a technology the Radeon HD 2900 series actually lacks. All that is left is the official launch and that the cards arrive in stores.
