Both AMD/ATI and NVIDIA has launched its mid-range products and to be perfectly frank, none of them impressed us, or much of the crowd in general. While NVIDIA’s cards is on top in general, the ATI cards are in general cheaper, even a lot cheaper. At the same time, the “new” CrossFire does wonders when you pack two of these together. Well it seems that ATI has more than the RV30 and RV610 planned for the mid-range segment and DailyTech reports that ATI has a third chip coming up; RV670.
This one will fill the void (the quite large void) between the Radeon HD 2900 XT and 2600 XT. The card will be based on 65nm technology (own source) and sport frequencies close to those of R600, while the number of shader processors have been slightly reduced. We’re not sure if the number of TMUs and ROPs have been improved after the slightly skewed combo of the 2900 XT, but we can only hope.
