SuperPi 1M broke 9 seconds a long time ago and since then the record have been improved a number of times. Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800 have been pushed to speeds way beyond 5 GHz each time, but lately some overclockers have turned to Core 2 Duo E6700 instead. Certain samples have namely shown potential of speeds close to 5.8GHz. NewBeetle of Team Japan managed to push his (seventh) Core 2 Duo E6700 to 5741MHz (547.1×10) and compute 1M in just 8.843 seconds.
