I’m not sure how many of you that go the gym to get some exercise, but I for once is not a big fan of the sterile and rather boring setting you find in most gyms. At the same time, we’ve heard about how Nintendo’s new video game console Wii has become something of an exercise machine. Health Care Centers have purchased Wiis to get their patients up and about and other positive posts have spread the word of how Wii can help you lose weight. Things have gone so far now that a Canadian gym has decided to install a Wii and let gym members use the machine for a healthy and fun exercise. Finally a gym for me, now all I have to do is travel across the Atlantic.
According to the Reuters article, playing a round of Wii Tennis, Boxing or Bowling equals the burning of about 100 calories. A regular gamer can burn as much as up to 2,000 calories a week according to a recent study and evidently there is more than usual to gain from playing video games.
Nintendo of Canada is reported to be very glad to hear of the installment of Wii at Studeo 55. The fact is that Nintendo and third-party developers have taken things so seriously that fitness games are actually under development and will hit the market later this year. It’s true, video games are about to become very good for you.
