Intel will introduce two new technologies with its coming high-end chipset X38 says sources at motherboard makers to DigiTimes. The first, Extreme Memory will apparently be similar to NVIDIA’s SLI branding, where tested modules will be able to operate at higher frequencies and tighter timings with P35 and X38 motherboards. Extreme memory will be DDR3 exclusive though. Both Kingston and Corsair are evidently working on Extreme Memory modules, but we would assume that many others, like Corsair are also in on the deal.
Intel Extreme Tuning Utility is just what the name says, a utility for tuning settings. It allows for making changes to BIOS settings from within Windows and ease the process of finding the ultimate overclocking and performance of a system. According to the sources this utility will be exclusive to X38, but motherboard makers will be able to customize the interface of the utility to give it a personal touch.
