Toshiba has announced nine new harddrives of the 2.5″ format based on the latest harddrive technology, whereof two are especially interesting. The first, MK3252GSX, comes with 320GB storage capacity, uses an improved read/write head technology and enhanced magnetic layers to boost storage density. The second, MK2049GSY, is a 200GB model with 7,200 RPM and 16MB memory buffer, which together makes it one of the fastest 2.5″ harddrive on the market, all according to Toshiba. Toshiba has also announced that the new models will go into mass production in November and will then sport Free Fall detection. Toshiba will present the harddrives at this years IFA event, August 31 to September 5.
