ASUS Eee PC is a laptop that has been designed with minimum cost in mind. The Eee PC will namely cost as little as $199, but will also be available with configurations costing up to $369. The Eee PC comes with a 900MHz Intel Celeron-M ULV 353, 512MB of DDR2-400 memory and up to 16GB of flash storage. It measures 225x165x35mm, weighs approximately 900g and have a shock-proof design. The battery time is estimated to about 3-4 hours (4-cell NiMH) and to keep the price down it will ship with Linux instead of Windows, but if you want you can still install a Microsoft operating system.
There is some external connectivity as well; three USB ports, VGA (d-sub), audio jacks, 10/100Mb Ethernet and 802.11b/g WiFi, and a 56K modem. Since ASUS has niched it as an Internet PC there is also a 0.3Mpixel web-cam.
According to a recent report by DigiTimes, ASUS will start shipping Eee PCs worldwide in mid-September. ASUS has received orders from both Asia, Europe and North America, along with several organizations spread around the globe.
